Some children become very nervous and anxious in dental office and cannot stay still for the dentist to do the treatment.
These children can be helped with
conscious sedation procedure where the sedation medicine will allow the
child to relax. The child will not be totally unconscious but will be
extremely relaxed & will be able to respond to stimulus.
Oral sedation is
recommended to children who are not able to cope with conventional way of
dental treatment because of young age, fear of dental treatment, who need
extensive dental treatment or special needs kids.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Also known as “laughing gas”
used for mildly nervous kids. The child is asked to breath through the mask
placed on his/her nose & within minutes child becomes relaxed and will be
able to cooperate for dental treatment. As soon as the gas is shut off the
sedative effect wears off. The pleasant experience with nitrous oxide makes
them comfortable with dental treatment for rest of the life.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral sedation is used for very nervous and apprehensive children. In this
procedure different variety of medications are used depending on the age and
anxiety level of child.
The child is fully monitored & only minimum amount of
sedation medication is used to safely finish the procedure.
A consult with medical doctor is typically completed
before sedation treatment.
We will give all the instruction before the procedure.

Gum Disease
(Gingivitis)
Gingivitis
is the medical term for early gum disease, or periodontal disease. In
general, gum disease can be caused by long-term exposure to plaque, the
sticky but colorless film on teeth that forms after eating or sleeping.
Gum disease originates in the gums, where infections form from harmful
bacteria and other materials left behind from eating. Early warning signs
include chronic bad breath, tender or painful swollen gums and minor
bleeding after brushing or flossing. In many cases, however, gingivitis can
go unnoticed. The infections can eventually cause the gums to separate from
the teeth, creating even greater opportunities for infection and decay.
Although gum disease is the major cause of tooth loss in adults, in many
cases it is avoidable.
Pregnancy has also been
known to cause a form of gingivitis. This has been linked to hormonal
changes in the woman's body that promote plaque production
If
gingivitis goes untreated, more serious problems such as abscesses, bone
loss or periodontitis can occur.
Periodontitis is treated in a
number of ways. One method, called root planning, involved cleaning and
scraping below the gum line to smooth the roots. If effective, this
procedure helps the gums reattach themselves to the tooth structure.
Oraqix is a revolutionary new
non-injection anesthetic for periodontal applications. The anesthetic is
delivered to the treatment site without the use of a needle
and anesthetizes the site within 30 seconds for a period of approximately 20
minutes, without residual numbness of lips and tongue.
